Amber was a magnificent lioness who was born in 2000 and passed away in 2017 when she was 16-years-old. She came into Love Lions Alive in 2014 but we were only able to rescue her to our current sanctuary’s premises in 2017. She had been deadly dehydrated, had massive parasites, worms and ammonia. She was so sick that she had to receive more than a week of specialised treatment before she could travel with us. Amber spent her last few weeks of life amongst African grass and wind in her home at Love Lions Alive sanctuary. She drank from the ponds we made for her and cherished her closeness with her best friend, Emma. We fed her meat that was easy for her to eat and monitored her needs closely. Amber had a dignified death at Love Lions Alive sanctuary and has been safely put to rest on the side of our mountain, where her burial can feel the African breeze.

We do not have enough words to describe the significance and beauty of this lioness. Thank you, Amber, for motivating and inspiring us to fight for lions like you. Rest in peace, Amber, and may your memory illuminate us for the rest of our lives.
