I have always loved wildlife, especially big cats. When I found out about Andi starting Love Lions Alive Sanctuary I was hoping to be able to help. Carl came along, a cub taken away from his mother to become a pet at someone’s house. Thanks to Love Lions Alive Sanctuary he survived and is thriving. When the opportunity came along to adopt a lion at Love Lions Alive Sanctuary, I did not hesitate to take Carl under my wing, followed a few years later by Nahara. I could simply not resist knowing that my monthly adoption fee would help them. I wish I could adopt them all. Thanks to our contributions we give them all a chance to live a life without fear, but filled with the joys of being a big cat.
VIRTUAL GUARDIANS
In 2025 we are introducing a new way of supporting our big cats, our Guardian program. Guardians are protectors, ensuring the nurturing and wellbeing of those they support.
Becoming a Guardian means that you contribute a monthly fee to help support your chosen big cat, used towards the ongoing care of him/her. This is a twelve month contract that continues until you choose to cancel it.
Please note that the cats remain the property of, and remain at, Love Lions Alive Sanctuary NPC. Your contribution goes towards the operational cost of looking after the cat as a donor.
The monthly operational cost of our cats is $340 per cat per month. This is calculated by dividing the total operational cost of running LLA by the number of cats we care for, alllowing for variables.
We have two levels of contributors being Guardians and Co-Guardians. There can be a maximum number of 3 Guardians and 10 Co-Guardians per cat.
Guardian
Pays 25% of the monthly operational cost of your chosen cat being $100/month, on a 12 month basis. Guardians receive a Big Cat Guardian Certificate and will be thanked on the specific cat’s page you are contributing towards, mentioned during ‘Lives’ and ‘tagged’ in posts relating to the cat you support.
Co-Guardian
Pays a minimum of $10/month, on a 12 month basis. Co-Guardians will be thanked on the specific cat’s page you are contributing towards.
To become either a Guardian or Co-Guardian please go to the individual cat’s page and click on the button at the bottom of the page.
You can follow the cat you support on social media and mention your involvement in posts, enjoying ‘Bragging Rights’, helping us raise awareness and support for our sanctuary.
Your location does not matter, you can become a Guardian from anywhere in the world. The cat you support remains at Love Lions Alive Sanctuary. This is not an ownership transfer. This is the virtual support of a cat and is valid for the twelve month period provided we receive the monthly payments.
LLA has the right to cancel if the terms are not adhered to.
“When I first became aware of lions being held and bred in Ukraine, I was among a group of dedicated people who raised money for their relocation to Love Lions Alive Sanctuary. One lioness became particularly dear to my heart and the group allowed me to choose her name. I named her Joy and now support her progress by providing a monthly stipend to assist with upkeep and maintenance. She has thrived! Andi Rive has dedicated her life to the care and rehabilitation of captive big cats and due to this wonderful sanctuary, Joy lives a full life, with space to roam and clean water to drink, surrounded by the sights and smells of Africa.”
