Kanosha is a female tigress who was bought to be kept as a pet and companion to Igor, a male tiger who had the same owner. She had been kept in a house in Gauteng, South Africa. Kanosha had been in a relatively fair condition compared to some atrocities we have seen, but she was overweight with high-cholesterol. This was due to her having had no exercise and an incorrect diet of frozen chicken pieces. A house is an inappropriate habitat for a Siberian tiger. Kanosha’s owner decided to give her and Igor to Love Lions Alive. Panthera Africa and Ban Animal Trading worked alongside us on the rescue.

Kanosha arrived at Love Lions Alive sanctuary in May of 2021. She loves her new home and is making the most of the space she has to move around in, the boulders she has to climb, and the vegetation she can hide in. She is a gorgeous tigress and Love Lions Alive strives everyday to fulfil the honour of caring for her and giving her the best life we possibly can.
