Nahara
Born: 2022
Arrived at Love Lions Alive Sanctuary: 23rd of July 2022
Love Lions Alive was contacted by a veterinarian about a badly burnt cub. It was not straightforward getting guardianship of the cub and the National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) had to assist us in the process, especially as we needed to transport the cub interprovincially. After being treated by a specialist veterinarian, we brought her back to our sanctuary and named her “Nahara.” Her name means “light”.
We built her a small enclosure that we called the “day-room’ and at night time in winter she slept inside Andi’s office tent as she needed to be monitored. Despite the circumstances Nahara had been through, she was self-assured from the moment she arrived at Love Lions Alive, and ate a lot! She is such a character and truly a “light” in our lives. Her hair has grown back from where she had been burned and she has grown to be athletic and strong. We eventually moved her into a larger enclosure that we had built for her, right next to Umbhali’s enclosure.
Umbhali and Nahara now live together after months of bonding through scent and meeting near their shared fence. They love each other dearly.
