The Love Lions Alive team believes that Odin was born on the 7th of September, 2016, as he was four-days-old when we were called on the 11th of September to take him in. Odin was born on a lion breeding farm, where he had been intended to be a cub that tourists could bottle-feed and, eventually, be killed for the trade of lions’ bones. However, Odin was a small, sickly and dehydrated cub that the farm didn’t believe was worth the money and effort to nurse back to health. Luckily for him, due to a tourist having the tenacity to find and reach out to us at Love Lions Alive, we had the opportunity to intervene. We collected him and his sister, Mulan, and bought the appropriate supplies from a veterinarian.

Odin was nursed back to health with Ringer’s lactate,  glucose and antibiotics being administered to him. He was syringe fed whilst getting stronger. Odin made a brave recovery and grew up alongside Mulan at our sanctuary. He has grown into a healthy and large lion, our biggest lion, even bigger than Taai and Shannon. Odin is an affectionate and gentle lion who can be gregarious in his playfulness. He spends most of his time lying on top of the boulders in his enclosure and is capable of some serious “chilling”.
