Shannon was born on the night of the 10th of December 2011 in the same litter as his sister, Reign. Savannah, their mother, had left the cubs in the scrub under the gum trees in the enclosure and was laying in an interlinking enclosure. With their mother not nearby, the tiny cubs began to squirm apart and caught the interest of their father, Clyde. He began to swat and play with the cubs. Clyde was then lured away but Savanah had not gone back to them. The three surviving cubs were then rescued from the enclosure and given to the Love Lions Alive team on the condition that we would rear them and care for them.

Shannon was hand-reared alongside his siblings, as well as Sienna. He moved into his new, large enclosure at Love Lions Alive sanctuary in 2017 and lives with Reign and Sienna, the lions he was once a cub with. They form a breathtaking pride. Shannon has grown into a very large lion with a jaw-dropping mane. It is impossible to not be in awe of him and his absolute dignity. Despite being hand-reared as a cub, he is an adult with no interest in human contact, with lion instincts. This is what we aim for at Love Lions Alive.

Although it is still debated amongst the team, it could be argued that Shannon is the true king of the sanctuary, surveying his kingdom from his large rock with Sienna and Reign loyally by his side.
